Dear Friends of Comparative Literature,
IU Comparative Literature has continued to rebound from the pandemic.
Last fall, we had a splendid Albert Wertheim Memorial Lecture. It was given by an IU Comparative Literature alumnus, Henry Schvey. Professor Schvey, who received his PhD on Comparative Literature here in 1977, has had a fantastic career as a professor, author, and director.
Sean Sidky completed a dual Ph.D. in Comparative Literature & Religious Studies in 2022. His dissertation, “No Letters Arrive Anymore: American Yiddish Holocaust Literature” received the Indiana University Distinguished Ph.D. Dissertation Award for 2023.
Graduate student Cynthia Shin reflects on the graduate student conference "Forget-me-not," which took place this past April.
"Students came from California, Washington, Michigan, and more, and our papers talked about literary texts from Russia, Germany, Japan, and India," Shin writes.
