Student Advisory Board

The Student Advisory Board (SAB) was established to serve as a link between the students, faculty and administration of the Comparative Literature department. It functions primarily through the efforts of its graduate members, but the SAB is also open to undergraduates.

What does the SAB do?

The SAB actively participates in many areas of the Comparative Literature department. SAB members represent the students at faculty meetings, and the Faculty Advisory Committee meets periodically with the Board for discussion of all aspects of the department. Throughout the year, the Board organizes both educational and social activities for the students and faculty of the Comparative Literature department.

What are some specific examples of SAB projects?

In the past, the SAB has provided student input about what courses need to be offered and voiced student opinions regarding changes in academic policies and requirements (such as supplanting the master’s reading list with a series of required courses and making changes in the Ph.D. qualifying exam procedure).

How can I get involved?

Any Comparative Literature student can participate. Check the bulletin board outside the CMLT office for dates and times of meetings and events or contact the current SAB president for more information.
