Comparative Literature is a department with a strong and welcoming internal culture, bolstered by events that point to the diversity, cultural curiosity, and longstanding value of close readings of literature understood in its broadest sense.
We are closely affiliated with many other programs and departments, and make note of national and international events pertinent to our field. Students of comparative literature exhibit a fascination with many topics that hold significance across boundaries of various kinds: among literary genres, across national boarders, and in the shades of meaning reveled by the processes of literary analysis and translation.
