Homeric epic, Attic tragedy, and their reception; comparative mythology; Arthuriana; Marxist approaches to literature
Simon is a Ph.D. student in Comparative Literature and part of the program in Ancient Studies. He works primarily with Greek literature from the Archaic and Classical periods in a comparative context, with a focus on the Iliad, its reception in lyric and drama, and its enduring relevance to the broader literary expression of war, grief, and trauma. In his time away from Greece, he enjoys spending time with the Epic of Gilgamesh, Arthurian legends, and Egyptian and Norse mythologies.
