Writing this introductory note to the Comparative Literature Department’s annual newsletter is one of the pleasantest responsibilities to have fallen to me since I assumed the role of chair in August, in the thick of what has turned out to be an eventful period in higher education.
At most universities, undergraduate education follows a familiar rhythm: attend class, complete assignments, prepare for exams. But a new program in the Comparative Literature department within the College of Arts and Sciences at Indiana University, Bloomington, is rewriting that script, one student at a time.
